A hotel tracker for Android
Some of the best-known hotel tracker apps launched on iPhone first. If you carry an Android phone and want a record of where you have stayed, the choice is smaller. StayBook is a hotel journal and hotel tracker made for Android, and it is on Google Play today.
Two kinds of hotel tracker
"Hotel tracker" usually means one of two things. Some apps are stats and loyalty trackers: they count nights, nights per hotel chain, money spent and countries visited, often with maps and a built-in hotel database. Others are journals: a place to record what a stay was actually like, so you can decide whether to go back.
StayBook is a journal. It is built around one question: would I stay here again?
StayBook and Awaybook at a glance
Awaybook is one of the better-known iPhone hotel trackers, so it is a useful comparison.
| StayBook | Awaybook | |
|---|---|---|
| Platform | Android, on Google Play. iPhone version coming soon. | iPhone, on the Apple App Store. |
| Main idea | A private hotel journal: what each stay was really like. | A stay and stats tracker: nights, hotels, countries and spend. |
| Rating a stay | Five categories: value, noise, safety, service and cleanliness, plus notes. | Reviews and notes for each stay. |
| Loyalty nights | Not the focus. | Counts nights by program, such as Marriott Bonvoy, Hilton Honors and World of Hyatt. |
| Where your data lives | Only on your device. No account, no server, no tracking. | On your device, synced through iCloud. |
| Offline | Works fully offline. | Not stated on its listing. |
Awaybook details come from its public App Store listing as of October 2026 and may have changed. Awaybook is made by Away Studio LLC and is not affiliated with StayBook.
When StayBook is the better fit
- You use an Android phone.
- You want to remember what a hotel was like, not just that you stayed there: the noise, the service, the parking, the ice machine by the elevator.
- You want no account and no cloud. Your hotel history stays on your phone.
- You travel for work and keep landing in the same cities, and want to check your own notes before you book.
- You prefer a one-time purchase to a subscription. StayBook Pro is a one-time unlock.
When a different app might suit you better
- You use an iPhone and want home screen widgets, a world map of past stays and loyalty night counts. An iPhone-first tracker like Awaybook is aimed at exactly that.
- You mainly want charts of spending and nights across hotel chains. An app built around stats is the closer match.
Both kinds of app are useful. They just answer different questions.
How StayBook works
- Log the stay. Tap Enter New Hotel when you check in, or once you are home. Only the hotel and city are required.
- Rate what mattered. Score value, noise, safety, service and cleanliness, and add notes and photos.
- Find it next trip. Tap Find a Hotel, search by city or brand, and see every stay you have logged there with your ratings.
